Okasha est né en Egypte en 1968.
Peintre et sculpteur, ses activités artistiques l’ont amené à parcourir le monde et beaucoup d’écrits ont été consacrés à son œuvre originale.
Parmi les formes qui peuplent son œuvre picturale, des silhouettes répétitives qui impriment un rythme au regard, avec de temps en temps des plages de couleurs stridentes, intermittentes, dans un espace saturé de représentations. Les corps sont généralement immobiles, pourtant la figure se situe au delà de l’objet de narration, prétendrait-elle à l’universel ?
Les stèles antiques et les gisants côtoient les vivants, l’enfant et l’oiseau ici ne connaissent pas le temps – carrefour de représentations et de figures symboliques, à l’image de l’Egypte et son histoire qui ont baigné son enfance.
La couleur est dense, la touche serrée. Malgré tout, Okasha, le peintre qui passe par ici, est un homme pressé. Son langage est d’un geste libre mais constamment soumis au sentiment d’une urgence à dire les choses. La figure apparaît sous la matière colorée, l’expression est toujours complexe et chargée d’intention
